European Amateur Chess Championship LIVE!

Chess Federation of the City of Nis under the auspices of the European Chess Union organizes the European Amateur Chess Championship 2017, which will take place in Nis, Serbia, from June 9 (day of arrival) to June 17 (day of departure) 2017.

The tournament will be held in the “Tami Residence” hotel in Congress Hall (Durmitorska street, Nis, Serbia), which will be the official accommodating hotel.

Last round decides the European Champion in Minsk

The last round of the European Individual Chess Championship 2017 in Minsk will decide the Champion, as Maxim Matlakov and Baadur Jobava took over the lead, both with 8 points.

BPB Limburg Open 2017

The 11th BPB Limburg Open was held from 2-5th June at the Sporthal de Geusselt in Maastricht, Netherlands.

The event consisted of five sections: Open A for players rated above 2050, Open B for players rated from 1800-2100, Open C1 and C2 for players rated under 1800, and Veterans Group.

The total number of participants throughout all sections was 432. All sections were completed over 7 rounds of Swiss system.

22nd Sharjah International Chess Championship 2017

The Sharjah Chess Club organized the 22nd Sharjah International Chess Championship 2017 from 2-6th June. The 9-round Swiss event was with the rapid time control 15 min + 10 sec.

The local star GM Salem A.R. Saleh took the winner’s trophy after edging Elmar Magerramov, Vladimir Akopian and Bartosz Socko on tie-break.

119 players from 26 countries competed.

World Cadets Rapid and Blitz Championships – Medal Winners

The 1st World Cadets Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships was held from 2-4th June in Minsk, Belarus. The championships were held in Palace of Sport, the same venue as the European Individual Chess Championship 2017.

626 young chess players from 24 countries took part in the rapid event.

Altibox Norway Chess 2017, the chess super tournament, has managed to gather the world’s top 10 best players for the 2017 edition.

The tournament aims to be amongst the top 3 strongest chess tournaments in the world. The 2017 tournament takes place from June 5 to 17 at the Clarion Energy Hotel and at the Stavanger Concert Hall.
