Asian Junior Chess Champions 2022 crowned in Tagaytay, Philippines

The Asian Junior Chess Championship 2022 took place from 17-25 November in Tagaytay City, Philippines. The event was played in two categories: Open and Women’s, 9 rounds, swiss system, with the time control of 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move from move 1.

Indian International master Harshavardhan GB scored 7/9 points to be the sole winner of the open tournament. IM Michael Concio Jr. clinched silver with 6.5 points while five players tied for bronze with 6 points, each. IM Sugar Gan-Ergene had best tiebreak criteria and came third.

WIM Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong won the Girls Championship with 7.5 points. WIM Ravi Rakshitta won silver with 7 points, and WIM Amina Kairbekova won bronze as she had better tiebreaks than Femil Chelladurai and WFM Mitra Sgharzadeh who had the same score. Scroll down for final rankings of both sections
