Ceske Budejovice Chess Festival 2022 concluded

The Ceske Budejovice Chess Festival 2022 took place from 1-9 July in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. The Festival featured closed GM and IM events, as well as the Open tournament which was played in two categories: A and B.

 17-year-old Austrian FIDE master Marc Morgunov won the closed GM event with outstanding performance in a very strong field and achieved the GM norm. With score of 6 points, Morgunov tied with GM Alexander Donchenko for the first place, but the youngster clinched gold as he defeated the German grandmaster in the first round and had better tiebreaks.

Three players tied for the top of the IM event scoring 6 points each, with tiebreaks criteria determining GM Azer Mirzoev as the Winner of the event. FM Ondrej Svanda was second and FM Vladimir Bochnicka came third. Both Svanda and Bochnicka claimed the IM norm.

21-year-old IM Yevgeniy Roshka triumphed in the Open A tournament. Scoring unbeaten 7.5/9 points, Roshka was the sole Winner of the event, while GM Petr Neuman and FM Josef Havelka tied for the second place with 7 points.

As many as four players tied for the first place of the Open B: Mohamed Al Muaini Aisha, Rudolf Bitner, Jonas Durana and Pavel Weiss. Aisha had the best tiebreaks and clinched the event, Bittner was second, Durana came third and Weiss finished on the fourth place. Scroll down for the final rankings
