GM Vasilios Kotronias wins the 45th Ikaros Chess Tournament 2022

The 45th edition of the Ikaros International Chess Tournament took place from 9-17 July at the Greek island in the Aegean Sea – Ikaria. The event was played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with a total prize fund of 3.300 euros.

GM Vasilios Kotronias convincingly won the event scoring 7.5/9 points. He was a full point ahead of the group of three players who tied for second place scoring 6.5 points, each. Cesar Gimenez Menchon had the best tiebreaks criteria and claimed silver, WGM Maria Manakova won bronze and she was the best ranked female player of the event, while 16-year-old Vasileios Fragkos finished the event in fourth place.
