Russian International Master Andrei Obodchuk won the 21st IPCA World Individual Chess Championship which concluded today in Ashdod, Israel. Obodchuk stroke back after a loss in the fifth round and scored 7.5/9 points to be the sole Winner of the event. Replay the games here

IM Stanislav Mikheev was second with 7 points and Yaacov Zilberman clinched bronze thanks to better tiebreak criteria than IM Andrei Gurbanov who had the same score of 6.5 points.
WFM Svetlana Gerasimova was the best ranked Women player as she scored 4.5 points and finished 12th on the overall rankings. WFM Aleksandra Aleksandrova was just behind with the same score but lower tiebreaks and 13th place.

The total prize fund of the event was 5.500e and the winner among men, women, and players in wheelchairs will obtain the right to participate in the IPCA team at the FIDE World Chess Olympiad 2022. All information about the 21st IPCA World Individual Chess Championship
