Naroditsky Memorial 2026 LIVE

Star-Studded Field Headlines Inaugural Naroditsky Memorial in Charlotte

The inaugural Naroditsky Memorial Rapid & Blitz gets underway Friday in Charlotte, North Carolina, bringing together one of the strongest speed chess fields ever assembled in the United States to honor the legacy of Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky.

Headlining the field are American superstars Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, Wesley So, and Leinier Dominguez, alongside 2026 Candidates winner Javokhir Sindarov, whose victory earlier this year established him as one of the world’s fastest-rising players. Their presence gives the tournament exceptional strength and positions the Naroditsky Memorial as an immediate fixture on the international rapid and blitz calendar.

The rapid championship offers players little room for error. With only seven rounds and a brisk 10+5 time control, early momentum will be critical as elite grandmasters and ambitious challengers compete for prize money, FIDE Circuit points, and US Chess Grand Prix points. The tournament is expected to produce numerous marquee clashes between established stars and emerging talents.

Beyond the competition, the event serves as a tribute to Daniel Naroditsky’s impact on the chess world. Organized by the Charlotte Chess Center Foundation in partnership with the Naroditsky family, the memorial celebrates both his extraordinary speed chess ability and his influence as one of the game’s most respected teachers and content creators. Proceeds from the event support the Naroditsky Memorial Fund and its long-term educational initiatives.
