Yu Yangyi convincing at the 2022 Summer Chess Classic

The Saint Louis Chess Club hosted the second leg of the Classic Series, the 2022 Summer Chess Classic, from June 1-11. Read more: Saint Louis Chess Club to Host Legends and Rising Stars of American Chess

Over the course of 9 days, twenty competitors fought for $36,000 in prize money in two 10-player Round Robin tournaments: A and B. Chinese grandmaster Yu Yangyi convincingly won the A tournament scoring 6.5/9 points. He was a point and a half ahead of Grigoriy Oparin and Abhimanyu Mishra who tied for the second place with 5 points each. (scroll down for final rankings)

The youngest Grandmaster in the history of chess was unbeaten in the event. With 8 draws and one victory, he scored 5.5 points to claim third place.
