Zeng Chongsheng wins Paul Keres Memorial 2026

Chinese GM Zeng Chongsheng (CHN, 2565) took first place in the Classic Open A section of the 7th Paul Keres Memorial Festival, held July 27 – August 1, 2026 at the Estonia Resort Hotel & Spa in Pärnu, Estonia. He finished the 9-round Swiss with 8/9, a full point clear of the field.

Second place went to GM Valery Kazakouski (LTU, 2594) on 7/9. FM Eivind Grunt Kreken (NOR, 2335) and GM Krzysztof Jakubowski (POL, 2424) tied for third on 6.5/9, followed by IM Toivo Keinanen (FIN, 2495) on 6/9. Top seed GM Maxime Lagarde (FRA, 2622) finishing with 6/9 as well.

The field numbered 67 players. Zeng entered as the third seed by rating but outscored both higher-rated players in the section, going through the tournament without a loss. The festival carried a guaranteed prize fund of €17,500 across its various sections and offered title-norm possibilities in the classical events.
