XII INTERNATIONAL CHESS OPEN OF LUGANO
VICTORY OF THE GM DUSAN POPOVIC
The twelfth edition of Lugano’s International Chess Open took place at the four-star Hotel De La Paix Hotel. GM Dusan Popovic, number 5 of the tournament in his first participation on the shores of Ceresio, won deservedly well with 5pt. out of 6 showing a precise and aggressive game. Second is the Russian GM Evgeny Alekseev with better tie-break from the third GM Boris Chatalbashev (already winner in Lugano in 2015) both with 4,5 points
During the Open there were also three chess side events of great importance such as the simultaneous of last Wednesday supported by the publisher and Italian maestro Valerio Luciani. In the spirit of the event a demonstrative chess lesson was held on Saturday for youngsters where a dozen children aged between 5 and 12 joined.
