2014 MetLife Warsaw Najdorf Chess Festival LIVE!

The 2014 edition of Miguel Najdorf International Chess Festival is taking place from 14th to 20th July 2014, at the Palace of Culture and Science in the Polish capital Warsaw.

84 players will be vying for the first prize of 5.000 €.

Top seed is Ukrainian GM Alexander Areshchenko.

FIDE World Senior Team Chess Championship 2014

The FIDE World Senior Team Chess Championship 2014 is taking place on 12-22nd July at the Vilnius Town Hall, Didžioji g. 31, LT-01128 Vilnius, Lithuania.

The Championship consists of two sections:
- Section 1 with 18 teams: Open tournament for teams with players 50+, including women’s teams with players 50+ which will have separate ranking and prizes
- Section 2 with 10 teams: Open tournament for teams with players 65+

P.R. Venketrama Raja is new President of All India Chess Federation

The Annual General Body meeting of the All India Chess Federation elected new office bearers for the 2014-2017 period at Chennai on June 22, 2014. The elections were unanimous. Justice K.M.Nataraajan (Retired, High Court of Madras) was the Returning Officer and he read out the elected names.

In a significant change, P.R. Venketrama Raja, Vice Chairman of Ramco Cements, and a well known chess promoter and lover of the game was elected President of the All India Chess Federation.

World Senior Team Chess Championship 2014 LIVE!

The World Senior Team Chess Championship is taking place from 12th to 22nd July, 2014, in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania and second biggest city in the Baltic states.

The event is a nine round Swiss tournament, split into two Sections (Open tournament for teams with players 50+ and Open tournament for teams with players 65+) with prize fund in the amount of 7.000 €.

GM Kaido Kulaots claims 24th Heart of Finland Chess Tournament

The 24th Heart of Finland Chess Tournament took place from 7th to 13th July, 2014, at the Harju building of Jyväskylä College, in the city of Jyväskylä, situated in the western part of the Finnish Lakeland.

The top seeded GM Kaido Kulaots emerged a clear winner for second consecutive year. The Estonian champion collected 7,5/9 points, leaving the nearest contenders half a point behind.
