Serbian Championship 2018

Novi SadThe 2018 Serbian Championship is a 10-player round-robin tournament taking place from 6-14 March in Novi Sad. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

Turkish Women’s Championship 2018

turkey-flagThe 2018 Arzum Turkish Women’s Championship is a 9-round Swiss tournament taking place in Antalya, Belek, Turkey from 5-10 March. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

Viswanathan Anand and Sergey Karjakin triumphant at Tal Memorial

The 11th edition of the International tournament dedicated to the memory of the 8th world chess champion Mikhail Tal was held in the Museum of the Russian Impressionism and in the Central Chess Club in Moscow on March 1-5. The super tournament was divided in two parts: rapid and blitz.

The 15th Annual Susan Polgar Foundation Girls’ Invitational is set to take place from July 21-26, 2018 at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Viswanathan Anand wins Tal Memorial rapid

Final three rounds of the rapid tournament of Tal Memorial were played in the Museum of the Russian Impressionism in Moscow on March 4.

Viswanathan Anand won the rapid part of the super tournament with 6 points out of 9.

Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Sergey Karjakin, and Hikaru Nakamura are half a point behind. Thanks to the superior tie-break, Mamedyarov took the second place, while Karjakin is the third.

Blitz event with 14 players will take place on 5th March.

Andrey Sumets winner of Rochefort Masters

The 17th Rochefort Chess Festival was held from 17h to 23th February at the Congres Palais, in Rochefort, France. The event was a big success with 220 participants, 10 GM and more than 30 titled players.

76 players competed in the Masters section which was reserved for the players rated above 1900. Grandmaster Andrey Sumets (Ukrainia) won the first place with 6,5 points.

Tal Memorial: Anand catches Mamedyarov on top

Rounds 4-6 of the rapid tournament of Tal Memorial were played in the Museum of the Russian Impressionism in Moscow on March 3.

Viswanathan Anand made draws with Peter Svidler and Vladimir Kramnik and defeated Hikaru Nakamura to catch up with Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. The leaders have scored 4 points each.

Alexander Grischuk and Vladimir Kramnik are trailing by half a point.

The first three rounds of Tal Memorial were played in the Museum of the Russian Impressionism in Moscow.

Shakhriyar Mamedyarov took the lead with 2.5 points. The Azerbaijani grandmaster defeated Viswanathan Anand and Peter Svidler and made a draw with Vladimir Kramnik.

Alexander Grischuk, Viswanathan Anand and Hikaru Nakamura are half a point behind.

Tal Memorial Opened in the Museum of the Russian Impressionism
