Round 3 of the London Chess Classic was relatively peaceful, as there was only one decisive result.

19th Dubai Open Chess Tournament starts registration

Dubai Chess & Culture ClubDubai Chess and Culture Club has opened the registration for the 19th Dubai Open Chess Tournament – Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup, which will be held from 3rd – 12th April 2017, at Dubai Chess & Culture Club (Dubai, UAE).

Grand Chess Tour adds fifth event

Grand Chess Tour 2016Continuing the growth shown over the last two years, the GCT now adds a fifth event to the Tour.

This new tournament, sponsored by the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis, will be held in Saint Louis, MO from August 13 to 20, 2017.

Oslo, Stavanger interested in World Chess Championship 2018

The Norwegian Chess Federation and Oslo City Council have partnered in an attempt to bring the 2018 World Chess Championship match to the city, NRK reported.

Ten days ago Magnus Carlsen retained the title in his third World Championship match. Now for the first time Norway is stepping in to be the host.

FIDE Grand Prix 2017 – Venues and Dates

Sharjah, Moscow, Geneva and Palma De Mallorca in Spain will host the four revamped World Chess Grand Prix events in 2017.

The new-look Grand Prix series will be contested by 24 players, rather than 12 as had previously been the case, with 18 players in each tournament.

The dates are as follows:
Sharjah, UAE: February 17-28
Moscow, Russia: May 11–22
Geneva, Switzerland: July 5-16
Palma De Mallorca, Spain: November 15-26

London Chess 2016 LIVE!

London Chess 2016 starts with the participation of Levon Aronian, Hikaru Nakamura, Wesley So, Veselin TOpalov, Vladimir Kramnik, Michael Adams, Viswanathan Anand, Anish Giri, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.

Already in round 1 when Hikaru Nakamura takes on Sinquefield Cup winner Wesley So with the white pieces. Nakamura is the only player who can still catch So in the overall Grand Chess Tour standings, which awards the winner $100,000 and $50,000 for the runner-up. Find the full schedule below.

8th London Chess Classic starting

The 2016 London Chess Classic starts on Friday, 9th December at Olympia Conference Centre in London, England.

The event features all the world’s Top 10 players, except the World Champion Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin.

Hainan International Chess Open 2016

Hainan International Chess Open 2016 is taking place 7-16 December in Danzhou. Top participants include Yu Yangui, Richard Rapport, Zhou Jianchao, Lu Shanglei, Rinat Jumbayev, Wen Yang, Chanda Sandipan, Jan Werle, Zong-Yuan Zhao, etc.
