Vladimir Dvorkovich Memorial, Stage of Grand Prix – Cup of Russia Rapid Chess 2014, was held on 15-16th January in Taganrog, Russia.

The tournament was organized by the Russian Chess Federation and the Rostov Oblast Chess Federation.

128 players from Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia competed in the 11-round Swiss event.

Rochefort Chess Festival 2014

The 13th Rochefort Chess Festival is set to take place on 22th-28th February 2014 at the Congres Palais, in Rochefort, France.

Just days before the huge Cappelle-la-Grande Open, the Rochefort Open is an excellent occasion for the players to test their preparation and use the perfect training opportunity.

Over 100 players, of which more than 25 titled, have signed in advance. The organizers have invested big effort to propose an interesting tournament for all-level players.

Vladislav Artemiev wins Andranik Margaryan Memorial

The 16-years old Russian junior Vladislav Artemiev won the Andranik Margaryan Memorial that was held on 8-16th January in Armenia.

The round robin tournament, organized by the Chess Academy of Armenia, gathered ten young and promising players from China, Russia, Serbia, Iran, Denmark and Armenia.

Abhijeet Gupta wins Parsvnath International

Grandmaster and Commonwealth champion Abhijeet Gupta won the title after an easy draw with Eldar Gasanov of Ukraine in the 10th and final round of 12th Parsvnath Delhi International Grandmasters Chess Tournament that concluded here at Ludlow Castle Sports Complex.

On what turned out to be an easy victory, Gupta won six and drew four games to tally eight points which was a half more than nearest five competitors.
