GM Boris Savchenko leads 18th Dubai Open Tournament with one round to go

 

Russia’s Grandmaster (GM) Boris Savchenko picked up his fourth win in a row at the expense of Dutch GM Ivan Sokolov to grab the pole position with seven points heading into the final round of the Dubai Open Chess Tournament – Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Cup at the Dubai Chess and Culture Club.

Gabuzyan, Ni Shiqun take gold medals in World University Chess Championship

GM Hovhannes Gabuzyan of Armenia and WGM Ni Shiqun of China won the men’s and women’s gold medals, respectively, in the FISU World University Chess Championship held at the Khalidiya Palace Raihaan by Rotana in Abu Dhabi.

Norway Chess 2016 LIVE!

GM Ganguly wins Bangkok Open on tie-break

The 16th Bangkok Chess Club Open – Thailand Open Chess Championships 2016 took place from 10-17th April in Dusit Thani, Bangkok, Thailand.

The event had two sections: Open category for all players (9-round Swiss), and Challenger category for players rated below 2100 or unrated (7-round Swiss).

The Open section had 198 participants from 39 countries. Among them were 14 Grandmasters and 16 International Masters.
