Tim Just’s Winter Open 2015

Chicagoland’s longest continuously run chess tournament organized by the same organizer, Tim Just’s Winter Open/Reserve, was held on 3-4th January at the Embassy Suites Chicago North Shore in Deerfield, Illinois, USA.

The tournament format was 5-round Swiss with $4,175 in prizes.

The 5-round Swiss event had 6 sections: Premier, Under 2100, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500 and Under 1300.

Ni Hua scores dominant victory in 2015 Australian Open

GM Ni Hua (China) scored an emphatic victory in the 2015 Australian Open, finishing with 10,5/11 to win the tournament by 2,5 points.

Ni conceded a single draw in round 8 to GM Rustam Khusnutdinov but won all his other games to collect the $6000 first prize. He defeated 5 of the 6 top seeds and finished the tournament with a 2850+ TPR.
