Pragg is World number 1 junior player

Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, or as he is better known in the chess community Pragg, has secured a three way tie at the UzChess Cup 2025 after a fantastic performance and 5,5/9. With this Pragg added 11,3 ELO points to his rating and climbed to 4th position in the Top 100 players list – which effectively made him the top Indian player ahead of Gukesh and Erigaisi.

Yet another top F1 driver has declared himself a fan of the game of chess. After Charles Leclerc ,Carlos Sainz, Mick Schumacher, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen etc. now it is Oscar Piastri who brags on Twitter/X about his chess skills. Oscar Jack Piastri is an Australian racing driver who competes in Formula One for McLaren. Piastri has won seven Formula One Grands Prix across three seasons. It remains to be seen how many chess games he won against fellow F1 pilots.

The Asian Junior Ches Championships 2025 take place June 27 – July 03 in Citrus Hotel, Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka. The Asian Junior Ches Championships are divided in Open and Girls category and feature 93 and 72 players respectively.

David Navara vs Ediz Gurel match

The young talented Grandmaster Ediz Gürel will play a chess match with Czech Republic’s number one player, Grandmaster David Navara at the Art Nouveau Municipal House Palace in Prague on June 26-27. It will be an 8 games rapid match. Chess fans can attend both days of the event in person, with games scheduled from 3 p.m. to approximately 7 p.m. Tickets will be available directly at the venue.

Pragg vs Richard Rapport, a candidate for the game of the year

Richard Rapport won his round 6 game of the UzChess Cup vs Praggnanandhaa in style. Many now consider this the “game of the year” and something that “we have not seen since Kasparov”. Kasparov himself commented, “Wonderful game by Rapport! And I thank him for refreshing some fond memories of my own games with 15..Nxd5! similar to what I played against Jan Timman in two games (Moscow 1981 & Linares 1992).
