FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team 2025 participants, one of the Major events in The Chess Calendar for the month of June, featured 104 Grandmasters (including 5 from the World top 10 – Hikaru Nakamura, Arjun Erigaisi, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Alireza Firouzja, Ian Nepomniachtchi) 63 IMs, and a total of 316 titled players.

Belt and Road Chess is a series of tournaments by the Chinese Chess Association with solid prize fund and expected strong participation.

2025 “Belt and Road” China International Chess Open in Bengbu, Anhui takes place August 12-18.

2025 “Belt and Road” China International Chess Open in Aksu, Xinjiang is scheduled for August 19-25.

The 2025 edition of the South African Chess Open takes place June 28 – July 5. In the open category top players include IM Daniel Cawdery, FM Jack Van Zyl-Rudd, FM Banele Mhango, CM Keith Khumalo, IM Providence Oatlhotse, CM Raphael Felix, IM Michael Simpson, CM Benjamin Vincent Hercules, RM James Dinham, FM Claus Pitschka, PM Heinco Du Plessis, CM Khanya Mazibuko, Vusimuzi Mlahleki, CM Neathan Peter, RM Bhekinkosi Mgobhozi

Attica Chess Open takes place June 14 – June 22 in Irakleio, Greece.

Open Internacional Escacs Barbera del Valles 2025 will take place July 4 – July 12 in Spain. Top players include GM Manuel Petrosyan, GM Jaime Alexander Cuartas, GM Karen H. Buenos Aires Chess Open aka Open Ajedrez Ciudad de Buenos Aires takes place June 16 – June 22 in Argentina. It is one of the top events of the week for the South America Chess Calendar (see all events in The Chess Calendar) and features GM Federico Perez Ponsa, IM Pablo Ismael Acosta, IM Mario Villanueva, IM Lucas Coro, IM Facundo Vazquez, IM Lucas Liascovich, GM Carlos Horacio Garcia Palermo, IM Cristian Dolezal, GM Sergio Slipak, IM Horacio Saldano Dayer, etc.

The Icelandic Chess Open is taking place June 15 – June 21 in Iceland.

Ian Nepomniachtchi was on the team roaster for WR Chess for the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team 2025. A few days before the start of the event, Nepo was declined entry visa for the UK and missed the rapid event, won by MGD1.

The 37th edition of the Pula Chess Open is taking place June 15 – June 23 in Pula, Croatia.
