WYCC 2013 U8 games LIVE

The UAE Chess Federation and Al Ain Chess Club, under the auspices of FIDE, organize the World Youth Chess Championships 2013 (Under 8, 10,12, 14, 16 and 18 years old – open and girls) scheduled 17 (arrival) – 29 (departure) December 2013 in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

32nd Empire City Open

The 32nd Annual Empire City Open will be held from December 27-29, 2013, at the New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Ave at 34th St, across from Penn Station, New York.

The event has 5 sections: Open, Under 2200, Under 1900, Under 1600 and Under 1300. All sections have either 3-day (December 27-29) or 2-day (December 28-29) schedules to play in.

The playing format is 6 round Swiss, 40/110, SD/30, d10 (2-day option, rds 1-3 G/40, d10).

Padova chess 2013 LIVE

The Open chess tournament of Padova takes place 15-22 December, 2013.

A total of 63 players participate in this year’s edition. Top seeded are GM Kiril Georgiev, GM Eduardas Rozentalis, GM Yuri Solodovnichenko, GM Danyyil Dvirnyy, GM Vladimir Petkov, GM Viktor Moskalenko, GM Joseph Sanchez, GM Axel Rombaldoni, GM Michele Godena, GM Roberto Morganzini, and IM Denis Rombaldoni.

Basque chess LIVE

The Mind Sports Games Chess 2013 is going to take place 11-19 December in Beijing, China. Basque chess is part of the program, it is a format where players face each other in two simultaneous games with reversed colors.

In the men section participants are Sergey Karjakin, Levon Aronian, Alexander Grischuk, Vassily Ivanchuk, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Leinier Dominguez Perez, Le Quang Liem, Ruslan Ponomariov, Teimour Radjabov, Hao Wang, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Wang Yue, Gata Kamsky, Peter Leko, and Anish Giri.

43rd Rilton Cup in Stockholm, Sweden

The Stockholm Chess Federation welcomes all chess players to the 43rd Rilton Cup, which will be held from 27th December 2013 to 5th January 2014.

The tournament will be played in three groups: Rilton Cup, Rilton Elo and Rilton Open (the Open is only for Nordic players with a national rating lower than 1800).

Hikaru Nakamura Wins London Chess Classic Super 16

American Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura emerged winner of the 2013 London Chess Classic after defeating the former World Championship challenger Boris Gelfand in the final match 1,5-0,5.

European Rapid Chess Championship 2013: Richard Rapport is the winner

Hungarian Grandmaster Richard Rapport won the European Rapid Chess Championship 2013 that was held on 14-15th December at The Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, Poland.

736 players from 29 European federations (FIDE Zones 1.1 to 1.10) competed in the 11-round Swiss event with the time control G-15′+10”. The field included 47 Grandmasters and 125 international title holders.

Kolkata Open: Samvel Ter-Sahakyan first on tie-break

The SREI International Grandmasters Chess Tournament was held on 5-14th December at the historic Town Hall in Kolkata, India.

The tournament was open for the players rated above 1900 and was completed over 10 rounds of Swiss system.

London Chess Classic – Quarterfinals

The London Chess Classic 2013 continues on Saturday with the Quarterfinal matches. After the preliminary group stages (4 by 4 players), the field is narrowed from Super Sixteen to final eight.

In the knock-out phase each match will consist of two games with the time control 25 minutes + 10 seconds per move for each player.

In case of a tie, there shall be a two game play-off at the rate of 10 minutes + 10 seconds per move for each player. Should the players remain tied, an Armageddon game shall be played.

European Blitz Chess Championship 2013: Anton Korobov takes gold medal

Grandmaster Anton Korobov won the European Blitz Chess Championship 2013 that was held on 13th December at The Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, Poland.

437 players from 28 European federations (FIDE Zones 1.1 to 1.10), including 104 International title holders, competed in the 11 double-round Swiss event with the time control G-3′+2”.
