Israel Women Elite Chess League takes place may 29 – May 31 in Netanya, Israel. Top players include Yuliia Osmak (Ashdod, 2471), Olga Badelka (Rishon Lezion A, 2426), Ticia Gara (Queens Maccabi Ramat-Gan, 2359), Alina Bivol (Rishon Lezion B, 2358), Marsel Efroimski (Rishon Lezion A, 2372), Inna Gaponenko (Hapoel Center Of Excellence in chess Afula, 2318), Olga Karavaeva (Maccabi Kiryat-Yam, 2271), Dina Belenkaia (Maccabi Kiryat-Yam, 2240), Masha Klinova (Beer-Sheva, 2231), Dana Kochavi (Queens Maccabi Ramat-Gan, 2226).

Anand – Faustino Oro clash of generations LIVE

From June 2 to 15, La Versiliana will host Chess Roads – an exhibition of 40 rare and original chess sets from Asia and Europe. On June 1, the event will open with a match between Faustino Oro and Viswanathan Anand: the youngest titled chess player in the world versus the legendary former World Champion (full details here).

New calendar of the European Chess Union

The European Chess Union, in cooperation with Chessdom.com and its Chess Calendar, have launched a new calendar on their official website. You can find it at https://www.europechess.org/calendar/

The calendar includes all ECU events from 2014 with detailed information and links to the official websites and/or results. It also has sections for 2026 and 2027 events, which will be timely updated.

Roman Shogdzhiev is the youngest IM, breaks Faustino Oro record

Roman Shogdzhiev is the youngest International Master at only 10 years, 3 months, and 21 days. With this achievement Roman Shogdzhiev beats the record set by Faustino Oro. Shogdzhiev won his final norm at the RadnickiChess May IM tournament in Belgrade, Serbia (find the tournament in The Chess Calendar and the Serbia Chess Calendar). The previous norm was achieved at Baku Open 2025

Anish Giri wins Sharjah Masters 2025

Anish Giri is the winner of Sharjah Masters 2025. In a solid fashion, Anish Giri was always near the top and a final round victory secured his sole first at the championship (replay the games here)
