The European Chess Club Cup 2025 will be held in Rhodes, Greece, from 18 to 26 October 2025, at the Rodos Palace Conference Hall. The tournament is organized by the European Chess Union consists of two events: the 40th European Chess Club Cup (Open) and the 29th European Women’s Chess Club Cup, both organized by the European Chess Union (ECU).

The FIDE World Corporate Chess Championship is an international team event organized by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) that brings together companies from around the world to compete for the title of “Smartest Company in the World.” Each team represents a registered company with four players and a captain, all of whom must be employees, executives, or major shareholders. The 2025 edition includes online qualifiers (October 11–12), online knockout rounds (October 18), and over-the-board finals in Goa, India (November 14–16).

The Hungarian Child & Youth Team Championships 2025 will take place from October 23 to October 26 in Makó, Hungary. This tournament has 2 sections – Youth and Child. The Child section is a 7-round Swiss system for teams tournament with a time control of 90 min + 30 sec/move.

The October’s edition of 2025 Marshall Monthly U2400 will take place from October 17 to October 19 in New York, United States. This week the chess world learned about the creation of the new Total Chess World Championship format. Norway Chess will launch the New World Championship format in 2026, approved by FIDE, and titled Total World Chess Championship. It will consist of four events each year and crown a combined champion across three disciplines – Fast Classic, Rapid, and Blitz chess. See what is Fast Classic here

Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura, the world’s number-two ranked chess player, continues his quest for the 2026 Candidates Chess Tournament by participating in yet another tournament. This time Nakamura appeared in Canada, where he added 6 more games to his game tally. Chessdom continues to follow Nakamura’s road to Candidates.

The chess world has a World Chess Championship 2026, where Gukesh will battle with the winner of Candidates 2026. It also has a World Rapid & Blitz Championships that will take place in December. There used to be a Fisher Random / Freestyle / Chess960 World Championship as well.

The Campeonatos Estaduais RPD & BLZ – ABS & FEM RJ 2025 will take place from October 18 to October 19 in Tijuca, Brazil. This tournament has 4 sections – Feminino Blitz, Feminino Rapido, Absoluto Blitz, and Absoluto Rapido. The Absoluto Blitz section is a 9-round Swiss system tournament with a time control of 3 min + 2 sec/move.
