The 116th edition of the Swiss Chess Championship takes place 7-15 July in the Walhaus Arena in Flims.

Games from the 116th Swiss Chess Championship will be live daily on Chessdom.com and ChessArena.com at 13:00 CET with computer analysis by the TCEC participants Komodo, Stockfish, and Houdini.

The 2016 Dortmund Sparkassen Chess Meeting takes place from July 9-17 in Dortmund, Germany. It is eight player round robin with Vladimir Kramnik, Fabiano Caruana, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Leinier Dominguez Perez, Ruslan Panomariov, Evgeniy Najer, Liviu Dieter Nisipeanu, and Rainer Buhmann.

Dortmund Chess 2016 will be live daily on Chessdom.com and ChessArena.com at 16:00 CET with computer analysis by the TCEC participants Komodo, Stockfish, and Houdini.

The Dutch Qualifier is a double round robin with: Friso Nijboer (2541), Sipke Ernst (2540), David Klein (2517), Twan Burg (2501). It takes place parallel to the Amsterdam Science Park Chess Tournament. Only the first place qualifies for the Dutch Championships – which takes place from August 22 to 28. The time control is 45 minutes + 10 seconds/move. Starting times: 11:30, 14:00 and 16:30 CET on both July 9 and July 10.

The Amsterdam Science Park Tournament takes place from Saturday July 9 to Sunday July 17. It is a 9-round open with time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game; with an increment of 30 seconds per move from the start.

Top seeded players include GM Evgeny Alekseev, GM Vitaly Kunin, GM Erik Van den Doel, GM Stanislav Novikov, GM Alexey Kim, IM Li Riemersma, GM Harmen Jonkman, etc.

A friendly match between European champion 2016 Ernesto Inarkiev and World Vice-Champion 2012 Boris Gelfand will take place on June 12-22 in Magas, the capital of Ingushetia Republic.

During the European Go Congress a special match between famous Grandmasters Alexander Morozevich (Russia) and Tiger Hillarp Persson (Sweden) will take place.

The 44th Annual World Open was held from June 30-July 4, 2016 at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

The event had 9 sections: Open, Under 2200, Under 2000, Under 1800, Under 1600, Under 1400, Under 1200, Under 900 and Unrated.

The main Open section had 220 participants. After 9 rounds of Swiss seven players shared the first place with 7,0 points each.

The Israeli player Evgeny Postny, 35 years of age, is the first 2600+ player to sign up for Rilton Cup 2016/2017 which will be played between December 27th and January 5th.

GM Evgeny Postny has 2632 in ELO and will surely be among the favorites to win the trophy.
