TCEC Season 6 – Stage 4: Critter beats Houdini and Komodo

Mirzoev, Stupak and Tiviakov share first place in Beirut Open 2014

lebanon-flagThe 7th edition of Beirut International Chess Open was organized by The Amicale Chess Club from 5th to 14th May, 2014, in Beirut, the capital and the largest city of Lebanon.

Georgy Agzamov Memorial – Participants

The 8th Tashkent International Open – Memorial of Georgy Agzamov, the first grandmaster of Uzbekistan, will be held on 14-24th May in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The tournament is a 9-round Swiss with the time control 90 min + 30 sec increment from move one. The total prize fund is 20,000 US dollars.

The tournament is organized by the Uzbekistan Chess Federation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan.

2nd Cherry Blossom Classic

The 2nd Cherry Blossom Classic is set to take place on 24-26th May at the Mariott Washington Dulles Airport, 45020 Aviation Drive, Sterling VA 22166, Virginia.

The tournament will consist of three sections – Open, Reserve (U2000) and Amateur (U1600).

The playing format is 6-rounds Swiss system: Open Section G/160, d5, FIDE rated; Reserve and Amateur sections 30/100, SD/60, d5.

6th KIIT International Chess Festival

The 6th KIIT International Chess Festival will take place on 24-31st May at the KIIT International School, Patia, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.

The Festival is organized by the All Odisha Chess Association, KIIT University, AICF and Odisha Mining Corporation.

The Elite Category is reserved for players rated 2000 FIDE and higher. The tournament will be conducted as per FIDE Laws of Chess and FIDE Swiss System with 10 rounds. Time Control is 90 Minutes plus 30 seconds increment from move 1.

Rinat Jumabayev is champion of Kazakhstan

kazakhstan-flagThe 2014 Kazakhstan Chess Championship for men was held from 3rd to 12th May, 2014 in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan.

The tournament was a 12 player FIDE round robin with an average rating 2417 (seventh category).

Guayaquil workshop for the training of International Arbiters

Official FIDE logoThe FIDE Arbiters’ Commission announces the list of participants of the Guayaquil workshop for the training of the International Arbiters.

The workshop will be held from 6 to 8 June 2014 in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Delancey International Open

The UK Chess Academy is organizing the Delancey International Open on 26-30th May at the Richmond Park Academy in East Sheen in London.

The event will consist of the 9-round Swiss International Open, the 5-round Swiss U2000 FIDE Open, the 6-round Swiss U110 ECF Open, and the 7-round Swiss FIDE Blitz.

The International Open will provide opportunity for FIDE title norms.
Winner £1000, 2nd: £600, 3rd: £400. Grading prizes U2200, U2000, U1800 each category 1st £150, 2nd £100.

Sigeman Tournament 2014 LIVE!

The 22nd annual Sigeman Chess Tournament is taking place from 15th to 19th May, 2014 at the classical Hipp Theater in central Malmo, Sweden.

This year’s edition of the traditional event is a round robin tournament in 5 rounds with a time control of 100 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves plus 15 minutes per player for the rest of the game with 30 seconds cumulative increment for each move starting from the first move.

Croatian Cup 2014 LIVE!

The Croatian Cup 2014 is taking place from 14th to 18th May, 2014 in the town of Bol on Island Brac, Croatia.

The format of the tournament is a 6 round Swiss with a time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes per player for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds per move starting from move 1.
