75. Armenian Men’s Chess Championship 2014 LIVE!

The 75th Armenian Men’s Individual Chess Championship is taking place from 21st August to 4th September in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The event is a 14-player round-robin tournament. Top seed is GM Hovhannes Gabuzyan (2582).

Tournament of Champions in Yaroslavl

The 5th International Chess Festival “Yaroslav the Wise” will feature a double round robin tournament of six European Chess Champions in the period 2009-2014.

The rapid event with the time control 15′+10” will be held on 26-27th August at the Yaroslavl State Historical and Architectural Museum.

Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival – Round 5 Video

The 21st Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival Masters Tournament is taking place from 20-29th August at the Abu Dhabi Chess & Culture Club in United Arab Emirates.

The main event of the Festival is Masters Tournament for foreign players rated above 2000 elo and all Abu Dhabi players.

After five round of play Russian Grandmaster Volkov Sergey 2583 emerged sole leader with 4,5 points.

IM Westerberg and GM Karlsson share first place in Stockholm

The 2014 Stockholm Open was held  from 18th to 24th August 2014 in Stockholm, the cultural, media, political, and economic center of Sweden.

The 9-round Swiss Open tournament hosted 69 players from 8 different countries.

First place was shared by IM Jonathan Westerberg and GM Lars Karlsson on 7,5/9 points each, but Westerberg lifted the trophy on superior tie-break score, meanwhile adding 11 ELO points to his rating.

Four players share first place at Split Chess Open 2014
