Kazakhstan Chess Championships 2014

The 2014 Kazakhstan Chess Championships for men and women are taking place from 3rd to 12th May, 2014 in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan.

The Men championship is a 12 player FIDE round robin with an average rating 2417 (seventh category). GM Murtas Kazhgaleyev is the first seed. The tournament is valid for achieving GM and IM norms.

Timur Gareev wins Larry Evans Memorial Open in Reno

Larry EvansGrandmaster Timur Gareev won the main Open section of the 3rd Annual Larry Evans Memorial in Reno, Nevada.

The event, formerly known as Far West Open, was held on 18-20th April. A total of 200 players competed in five regular and two extra sections.

7th New York International Chess Tournament

The 7th New York International Chess Tournament, organized by the historic Marshall Chess Club, will take place from June 18-22, 2014, at a luxurious private club in Midtown Manhattan under impeccable playing conditions.

The event will consist of three sections: FIDE Norm, U2200 and U1900.

Since its premiere in 2008, the event has grown every year in size and strength and is an excellent opportunity for both established Grandmasters and younger players who seek to obtain IM and GM norms.

Nakhchivan Open 2014 – Participants

The International Chess Festival Nakhchivan Open 2014, dedicated to the memory of Heydar Aliyev, is scheduled to take place from 4th to 12th May at the Nakhchivan Chess Center in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan.

The Festival is organized by the Azerbaijan Youth & Sport Ministry, Azerbaijan Chess Federation and Nakhchivan AR Chess Federation.

Last year the winner was the late GM Igor Kurnosov.
