Preparations for Ikaros 2014, the annual international chess tournament that is held for the 37th time at the picturesque island of Ikaria in Greece, are under way.

The organization committee is making the necessary preparations for hosting the Greek and foreign players who will visit Ikaria from 12th till 20th of July to combine an interesting tournament with relaxing vacations in a friendly atmosphere.

World Chess Hall of Fame and the U.S. Chess Hall of Fame Each Induct Two New Members for 2014

April 23, 2014 (Saint Louis, MO) – Four exceptional chess players will take their places in history when two are inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame and two into U.S. Chess Hall of Fame during a ceremony on March 7, 2014.

The FIDE World Women Blitz Chess Championship will be held right after the rapid event won by Kateryna Lagno. The tournament is 30 rounds and it will be daily live with analysis on Chessdom.

WGM Irine Kharisma Sukandar of Indonesia and GM Yu Yangyi of China are the winners of the 13th Asian Continental Individual Open and Women’s Chess Championships that concluded today in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Irine Kharisma Sukandar had an impressive run in the tournament to secure the title with one round to spare, not worrying about the last round defeat to Tan Zhongyi.
