Mongolian Nations Chess Tournament – Round 2

The First Mongolian Nations Chess Tournament takes place from 13 to 20 March 2016 in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. It is a round robin tournament (Men’s and women’s sections) having 4 chess players from Mongolia and one representatives per each regions of Inner Mongolia, Republics Buryatia, Tyva and Kalmykia (Russia). Prize fund of both sections is 48 000 000 MNT – 24000 USD.

First Mongolian Nations Chess Tournament started in Ulan Bator

The First Mongolian Nations Chess Tournament started today on 14 March 2016 in the capital of Mongolia Ulan Bator. It will be round robin tournament (men and women sections) where 4 Mongolian players and one representative from each country (Inner Mongolia, Republics of Tyva, Buriatya and Kalmykia) will participate.

The competition is taking place in Chinggiz Khan Hotel Ulan Bator from 13 March (arrival) till 21 March (departure).

Mehrdad Pahlevanzadeh elected President of Iran Chess Federation

The elections for the Iran Chess Federation presidency were held on 14th March at the Sport Hotel.

43 delegates constituted the Assembly and 14 candidates were running for the post of President.

Mehrdad Pahlevanzadeh won the election in the first ballot with 24 votes. He will be the federation President for the next four years. Congratulations!

Pahlevanzadeh is also Treasurer of the Asian Chess Federation.

GM Vladimir Onischuk wins Stockholm Chess Challenge

The new title tournament for young talents, Stockholm Chess Challenge 2016, was organized in Kista, Stockholm, from 8th to 13th of March.

The event was a 9-round Swiss invitational tournament open to titled players at the age of 25 years old or younger. A total of 16 participants from Belarus, Canada, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine, took part at the first edition of the tournament.

ChebanenkoThe 2016 edition of the Chebanenko Memorial was held from 11-12 March in Chisinau, Moldova.

The event was a 9-round Swiss rapid chess tournament dedicated to the memory of Moldovian player Vecheslav Chebanenko.
