18th OIBM Chess Tournament 2014

The 18th Offene Internationale Bayerische Schachmeisterschaft is taking place from 25th October to 2nd November 2014 in Bad Wiessee, a spa town on Lake Tagernsee in Bavarian Region of Germany.

The event is a 9-round Swiss with time control 2.500 €.

Top seed is Armenian GM Hrant Melkumyan(2678).

Canadian GM Eric Hansen is winner of Guernsey Open

The 40th Guernsey International Chess Festival took place on 19-25 October 2014 at the Peninsula Hotel, Guernsey.

The Festival consisted of two events – Open and Holiday (U1800 FIDE). Both sections were played over seven rounds of Swiss system.

Clement Stahl wins Réunion Open

The 16th International Réunion Island Open was held from 18th to 25th October at the Salle des Fetes de Bellepierre in Saint-Denis, Réunion Island.

The tournament was organized by the Echiquier du Nord and was completed over 9 rounds of Swiss system.

57 players from 13 clubs competed. Clement Stahl from Club du Canal St-Martin Paris emerged clear winner with 7,5/9 points to collect the top prize of 1200 EUR.

14th Sautron Open 2014 LIVE!

The 14th Sautron Chess Open is taking place from 25th October to 1st November 2014 in Sautron, a commune in the Loire-Atlantique département in western France.

The event is a 9-round Swiss with a time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment starting from move one.

Top seed is Ukrainian GM Alexander Zubarev (2588).

Leaders emerge at EYCC 2014 in Batumi

The 24th European Youth Chess Championship 2014 is afoot in Georgian coastal town Batumi. After 5 rounds we already have the leaders in their age groups.

In the group Boys U18 Valerii Iovcov (MDA) and FM Melih Yurtseven (TUR) are in the lead with 4.5 points. U16 IM Maksim Vavulin (RUS) and Andreas Kelires (CYP) top also with 4.5 points. In the group U14 FM Ariel Erenberg from Israel is in the sole lead with 5 points.
