Bank of Georgia supports the European Chess Union

Bank of Georgia has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the European Chess Union. The Bank will financially support the establishment and popularization of chess at schools, as well as the training of prospective players, coaches and referees at chess training centres.

“Chess is a sport that promotes people’s development, especially from an early age. Therefore, it is important to promote it at schools,” said Archil Gachechiladze, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Bank of Georgia.

The 11th Annual Susan Polgar Girls’ Invitational chess tournament, held July 10-15 at Webster University, wrapped up on Tuesday, July 15, in an unprecedented three-way tie.

The co-champions include top-seeded Kimberly Ding of New Jersey, Natasha Morales Santos of Puerto Rico and Neeshmy Nunez Gonzales of Costa Rica.

Dutch Open Chess Championship 2014 LIVE!

The 2014 Dutch Open Chess Championship is taking place on 21-31st July 2014 at the Sports Hall at Grand Café-theater halls center Theo Thorne in the Netherlands.

The event is a 9-round Swiss, open to players rated more than 2100. Top prizes are 2.500 €/ 1.750 €/ 1.000 €.

The preliminary list of players includes 61 players from 11 different countries, 9 of which are Grandmasters.

Top seed is GM Erwin L’Ami.
