The 4th ITT Jahv McGregor Open Tournament is being held from 4th to 8th December at the Centro Comercial Americas Outlet Factory in Bogota, Colombia.

The tournament will be played over nine rounds of Swiss pairings. 239 participants from 16 countries are signed up, including 17 Grandmasters and 44 International Masters.

Last year winner was GM Lazaro Bruzon

Bangkok Chess Club has the honour of inviting all chess players to participate in the 14th Bangkok Chess Club Open 2014 from 12th to 19th of April 2014 at the 5-star Dusit Thani Bangkok Hotel.

The 13th Open hosted more than 300 players from 40 countries, and this year the tournament is expected to be the biggest and strongest open tournament ever held in Thailand.

The Moscow based Center for New Technologies “Digital” will host a match between GM Daniil Dubov (2641) and GM Alexei Shirov (2685) on 2-8th December.

The match is organized by ChessTV and sponsored by businessman Oleg Skvortsov.

The match will consist of six games with FIDE time control 90 min/40 moves + 30 min + 30 sec (from move one).

The 121st New Zealand Chess Congress is scheduled to take place on 2-12th January at the Alexandra Function Centre, Green Lane, in Auckland.

Komodo chess engine is the winner of this year’s world strongest computer chess championship TCEC. Komodo edged Stockfish in the final match 25,0 : 23,0 in a dramatic battle.

World Champion Magnus Carlsen celebrated his 23rd birthday with 68,000 people at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium as he took a ceremonial kick-off in the La Liga match between Real Madrid and Valladolid.

Real Madrid CF President Florentino Pérez invited Carlsen to be the special guest of the match and presented him with a shirt and engraved watch as birthday gifts.
