European Chess Union and ECU Trainers Commission, supported by FIDE Development Fund, announce the annual training program in period from 18th November 2024 to 29th April 2025.

The 4th Annual Training Program will feature two groups:

● Group A – Over 1900 Rating: Monday 18:00-20:05 CET (Juniors/Girls U20)
● Group B – Under 1900 rating: Tuesday 18:00-20:05 CET (Juniors/Girls U16)

The Romanian Women Team Chess Championships 2024 is being held from September 30 to October 6 in Mamaia, Romania. The tournament is a round robin with strong participation, including IMs Irina Bulmaga, Ekaterina Atalik, Ulviyya Fataliyeva and WGMs Viktoriya Radeva, Andreea Navrotescu, Michaela Sandu. Oskemen Chess Open 2024 is going to be held from October 2 to October 10 in Oskemen, Kazakhstan. The tournament is organized by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation and will be a 10 rounds Swiss event. The top rated players are GMs Manuel Petrosyan, Xiangyu Xu, Aram Hakobyan, Bardia Daneshvar, S.P. Sethuraman, Jakhongir Vakhidov, Jinshi Bai, Timur Gareyev, Denis Makhnev and Kazybek Nogerbek.

The Spanish Senior Chess Championship aka Campeonato de España Veteranos 2024 is going to be held from October 5 to October 13 in Roquetas del Mar, Almeria, Spain. The tournament is going to be 9-rounds Round Robin. Top players will include IMs Josep Anton Lacasa Diaz, Jose Candela Perez, Javier Aguera Nareda, Luis Maria Campos Gambuti, Diego Guerra Bastido and Victor Manuel Vehi Bach. A sad news for chess – GM Zenon Franco Ocampos passed away in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, at the age of 68. He was a strong chess player, a motor for chess in his country Paraguay, renowned book author, a FIDE Senior trainer. In the 1982 Chess Olympiad at Lucerne, he won the gold medal at board one by scoring 11 of 13. In the 1990 Chess Olympiad at Novi Sad, he shared first place at board one with 9 points in 12 games.
