The 25th Open Bavarian Championship is taking place from 5–13 November 2022 in Gmund am Tegernsee, Germany. The 9 round Swiss event has a 15 000 eur prize fund with 2500 eur for the winner. Time control: 90 min/40 moves, 30 min/all moves, 30 sec. per move from the first move.

Maria Albulet Memorial 2022 took place 29 October to 4 November in Braila, Romania. It was a 10-player round-robin chess tournament with Alicja Sliwicka, Alessia-Mihaela Ciolacu, Elena-Luminita Cosma, Evgeniya Doluhanova, Nadya Toncheva, Miruna-Daria Lehaci, Fiona Sieber, Susanna Gaboyan, Anna Kubicka, and Marina Makropoulou.

The 2022 Fall Chess Classic group B is a 10-player round-robin tournament taking place from 2-10 November 2022 in the St. Louis Chess Club. The tournament includes Raunak Sadhwani, Christopher Yoo, Alexander Lenderman, etc.

Sofia Karpova, the daughter of Anatoly Karpov, confirmed that Anatoly Karpov is in serious condition, “Dad was injured as a result of the fall, he is in an artificial coma“

Former World Chess Champion Anatoly Karpov is hospitalized in critical condition and in artificial coma.

Karpov was found is serious condition near the state Duma, where he works as a member of the Russian Parliament. Initial reports suggested Karpov was a victim of an attack, citing head trauma and broken hip. Later, Albert Stepanyan said to TASS news agency that Karpov has not been a victim of attack. Stepanyan adds that Karpov now is in stable condition and suffered no injuries.

US Chess Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura gained his first world title, winning the FIDE World Fischer Random Chess Championship today in Reykjavik, Iceland. He defeated Ian Nepomniachtchi, the previous and current challenger for the classical chess world title, winning in a nail-biting “Armageddon” playoff game after their match ended 2-2.  Replay all games here
