No Castling Chess 2022

After the successful start of the No Castling Chess last year, the NC World Masters will be expanded in Dortmund in July 2022: The two world chess champions Vladimir Kramnik and Viswanathan Anand will meet two more strong grandmasters in a double-round tournament: the winner of the NC Sparkassen Online Open 2021 Krishnan Sasikiran (India) and local hero Daniel Fridman (Germany).

Pavel Ponkratov is the winner of the 1st Guwahati Chess Open. The top seeded player in the participants list Ponkratov scored 8,5/10, the same points as GM Fawzy Adham, but won the gold with a better tiebreak. Third place is for IM Nitin S. A total of 256 players participated in the event

Le Quang Liem is sole leader of the Charity Cup after day 2

Le Quang Liem is sole leader of the Charity Chess Cup 2022 after day 2 of the Prelims. The former World Blitz Champion, who is now a university chess coach, scored three wins and a draw to stay unbeaten in the event being held as a fundraiser for UNICEF. The Vietnamese Grandmaster collected 20 points and is four ahead of Magnus Carlsen and the Candidates Chess 2022 participant Jan-Krzystof Duda.

FIDE Candidates Chess 2022 Madrid

The FIDE Candidates Chess 2022 will take place in Madrid, June 16 – July 7. It will be an 8 player double round robin with some of the world’s top Grandmasters. The winner will qualify for the World Championship match later this year. The World Championship Match between the reigning World Champion and the Challenger, the winner of the 2022 Candidates Tournament, will consist of 14 games. The player who scores 7.5 points or more wins the Match, and no further games are played.

Stockfish leads TCEC S22 Premier Division at halftime

Stockfish, the strongest open source chess engine and current reigning champion of TCEC, leads the Premier Division of the Top Chess Engine Championship. After round 28, Stockfish has 19,5/28 (11 wins, 17 draws) and is clear first. Second position is for Komodo with 18,5/28 (10 wins, 1 loss, 17 draws), while Lc0 is third with 17,5/28 (8 wins, 1 loss, 19 draws).

FIDE Grand Swiss Chess 2023 in Isle of Man

FIDE Grand Swiss Chess 2023 is going to take place October 23 to November 5, 2023 in Isle of Man. Royal Hall of the Villa Marina in Douglas will host the 159 players – 109 in the open section and 50 in the women section. FIDE Grand Swiss is returning to the island after having to be moved from Douglas to Riga on its 2021 edition due to the strict travel restrictions affecting the Isle of Man during that period.
