The European School Chess Championship 2018 took place from 29th June-8th July in Krakow, Poland.
It was played in 6 age categories (open and girls): Under 7, Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17,

The A-Open of the Najdorf Chess Festival is a 9-round Swiss tournament taking place in the Warsaw Sports and Recreation Centre, Poland from 8-16 July.

The Slovakian Championship – Open is a 9-round Swiss tournament taking place from 7-15 July 2018 in Banska Stiavnica. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

The Scottish Championship is a 9-round Swiss tournament taking place from 7-15 July 2018 in Paisley, Scotland. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

Asian Chess Federation received following letters of nomination for the Asian Presidential ticket of Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifah Al Nahyan:

From 19 to 21 June 2018 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Las Vegas, USA, by the US Chess Federation and under auspices of FIDE.

From 29 to 30 June 2018, a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Oran, Algeria, by the Algerian Chess Federation and under auspices of FIDE.

The lecturer was IA Dr. Hesham Elgendy (EGY), FIDE Lecturer and Assistant Lecturers were IA Adnane Nesla (ALG), IA Stephane Escafre (FRA) and IA Merouane Tabti (ALG).

The lectures and the exams were in Arabic language with translation in French.

From 1 to 4 July 2018 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Astana, Kazakhstan, by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, in cooperation with the Astana Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The lecturer was IA Ashot Vardapetian (ARM), FIDE Rules Commission Chairman and FIDE Lecturer.

The lectures were in Russian language.

Twenty three (23) Arbiters from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan participated in the Seminar.

A FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar is going to be organized from 23 to 27 August 2018 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, by the St. Petersburg Chess Federation, in cooperation with the Russian Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.
