Kaido Kulaots wins Heart of Finland 2017 on tiebreak

Estonian Grandmaster Kaido Kulaots took the winner’s trophy in Heart of Finland 2017 tournament by the virtue of superior tie-break. This is his fourth win in the HoF Open, after 2008, 2013 and 2014.

Kulaots, last year winner IM Vadim Moiseenko and IM Miroslav Vlasenko completed the event with 7,5/9 points each.

The 27th Heart of Finland Open was held from 17-23rd July in Jyväskylä, Finland. The playing venue was JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Rajakatu 35.

Andorra Chess Open 2017

The 35th Andorra Chess Open takes place from 22nd to 30th July 2017 in Hotel Panorama, Andorra.

A total of 153 players from 18 countries compete, including 13 Grandmasters and 18 International Masters.

The tournament will be played according to Swiss System in 9 rounds, with the time control 40 moves in 90 minutes and 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move one.

Ernesto Inarkiev winner of Moscow Blitz Cup

On the International Chess Day, July 20, National Research Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (NRU MGSU) hosted Moscow Blitz Cup dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of NRU MGSU President Valery Telichenko.

Yannick Pelletier wins Swiss Chess Championship

Swiss Open Chess Championship 2017Grandmaster Yannick Pelletier convincingly won the Swiss Open Chess Championship that was held from 13-21st July in Grächen.

Lev Polugaevsky Memorial 2017

Lev Polugaevsky Memorial was held from 8-16th July at the Polugaevsky chess club in Samara, Russia.

The 9-round Swiss event which is a stage in the Russian Cup gathered 107 participants, including 9 Grandmasters and 14 International Masters. The total prize fund was 11.000 EUR.

Dmitry Frolyanov convincingly won the tournament with 8,0/9 points, leaving Alexandr Predke half a point behind. Full standings below.

25th Southern Open in Orlando, Florida

The 25th Annual Southern Open will be held from July 21-23, 2017, at the Wyndham Orlando Resort, 8001 International Drive, Orlando, Florida.

There will be five sections: Open, U2100, U1800, U1500 and U1200. The tournament format is 5-round Swiss with the time control 40/100, SD/30, d10.

The event has a $15,000 prize fund, unconditionally guaranteed.

22nd Bradley Open in Windsor Locks, Connecticut

The 22nd Annual Bradley Open will be held from July 21-23, 2017, at the Sheraton Hartford Hotel at Bradley Airport, 1 Bradley Airport, Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

There will be five sections: Open, U2100, U1800, U1500 and U1200. The tournament format is 5-round Swiss with the time control 40/100, SD/30, d10.

The event has a $8,000 prize fund, unconditionally guaranteed.

Czech Open 2017 in Pardubice

The 28th International Chess and Games Festival Czech Open 2017 started on July 13th and will last until 30th of July. As usual, the event takes place in hockey Tipsport arena in Pardubice.
