The final leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Series 2015/2016 takes place at the Ugra Chess Academy, famous for its world class competitions, including Women’s World Blitz and Rapid Championships of 2013 and 2014, 2014 Candidates tournament, final leg of the FIDE Grand Prix 2014/15.

New York, November 18, 2016 – Sergey Karjakin has announced today that he will conduct a charitable simultaneous chess exhibition in NYC on February 1st, 2017. Ten chess lovers will get to play with Mr. Karjakin during this event.

The Egyptian Chess Federation is organizing the Golden Cleopatra Open, which will be held in Cairo, Egypt – Mondial Hall at Eastern Company Club from 12th to 22nd December 2016, under patronage of Mr. Mohamed Osman Haroon, the Chairman of Egyptian Eastern Company.

The tournament is open to all Fide-rated players with a standard rating of 1000 and above (as of 1st December 2016) – Online ratings & titles are not accepted. Last day for registration & payment is Tuesday 6th December 2016.

The Russian Chess Federation and FIDE Events’ Commission (EVE) will hold a Seminar for International Organizers in Sochi, Russia, from 4-6th December. The seminar is co-organized during the World School Championships 2016.

During the European Club Cup 2016 in Novi Sad, Serbia, the ECU organized the 1st ECU Arbiters’ Refreshment Course, which was held from 8th to 10th November.

From the 18th of November till the 2nd of December the capital of Ugra will host the final and decisive leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix 2015 / 2016. The venue for the tournament is Ugra Chess Academy.

At this moment two of the top individual chess championships are going on – Carlsen vs Karjakin World Chess Championship and Stockfish vs Houdini TCEC Superfinal

Carlsen and Karjakin started their 2016 World Championship match with a draw this Friday in New York. The result came despite a surprising Trompowsky openings (1.d4 Nf6 2. Bg5 followed by d5 3. e3 c5 4. Bxf6 gxf6 5. dxc5 Nc6 6. Bb5 e6).
