The Mongolian Chess Federation (MCF) organizes the World U-16 Youth Chess Olympiad from August 19-29, 2015, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

A total of 159 players from Australia, Belarus, Canada, China, France, Hungary, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, South Korea, Macau, Mogolia, Palau, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Turkey, United States, and Uzbekistan are participating in the 10 rounds team championship. Rules and regulations here

The 8th Arad International Chess Festival 2015 (Arad Open) took place from August 6 – 12, in Arad, a city in western Romania, situated near Hungarian border, 250 KM from Budapest.

The 90th French Men Championship and 2015 French Women Championship took place from August 9-20, 2015, in Saint-Quentin, France.

The events were played in a 12-player round-robin format and most of the strongest French players participated.

GM Christian Bauer and GM Tigran Gharamian tied for the first place at 7,5 points each and a direct playoff match of two games decided the winner.

The Russian Championship Superfinals, the 68th for men and the 65th for women, were completed in Chita on August 20.

In the men’s tournament, Igor Lysyj defeated Vladislav Artemiev. The games Tomashevsky – Svidler, Jakovenko – Karjakin, Vitiugov – Khairullin, Dubov – Motylev, and Khismatullin – Bukavshin were drawn.

The 6th Annual Central California Open was held from August 14-16, 2015, at the Doubletree Hotel, 2233 Ventura St, Fresno, California.

The event was held in four sections – Open, U2050, U1650 and U1250 – and completed through five rounds of Swiss system.

The main Open section had 27 participants. GM Enrico Sevillano finished clear first with 4,5/5 points to claim the top prize of 1100 USD.

The Serbian Premier League for men is taking place from 20-30th August, 2015, in Hotel Šumarice, Kragujevac.
