FIDE Arbiters’ Commission Councilors Meeting

The Arab Chess Federation in cooperation with the Dubai Chess and Culture Club, hosted the annual Councilors’ Meeting of the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission.

The meeting was held in the Dubai Chess and Culture Club in 8 August 2015.

Tomashevsky Retains Lead at Men’s Russian Championship Superfinal. Goriachkina Emerges on Top

The games of round 8 of the Russian Championship, the 68th for men and the 65th for women, were played in Chita on August 17.

Children’s Day held at Russian Chess Championship Superfinal in Chita

The traditional Children’s Day took place on August 15, on the day off at the Russian Chess Superfinal. Grandmasters Sergei Rublevsky, Evgeny Miroshnichenko and Evgeniy Najer played simuls against local chess fans.

Konstantin Ilkovsky, the governor of the Zabaykalsky Krai, visited the simuls in Chita.

Tomashevsky Leads at Men’s Russian Superfinal, Kosteniuk and Goriachkina Ahead in Women’s Section

Games of round 7 of the Russian Championships Superfinal, the 68th for men and 65th for women, were played in Chita on August 16.

Vienna Chess Open 2015

The 19th Vienna Chess Open is taking place from 15-23rd August, 2015, at the Wiener Rathaus in Vienna, Austria.

The event is organized by the Wiener Schachverband and has attracted over 800 chess players accross four sections. The main Open A has 465 players from 43 countries, including 21 Grandmasters and 39 International Masters.

Split Chess Open 2015 concluded

The 5th Split Chess Open 2015, organized by the Chess Club Brda, City of Split and Croatian Chess Federation, was held on 9-16th August at Hotel Zagreb in Split, Croatia.

198 players competed in the 9-round Swiss event with the prize fund of 8500 EUR.

The tournament concluded with as many as ten players sharing the first place with 7,0 points each. GM Ante Brkic took the winner’s trophy on best tie-break. Full standings below.

Stavropolsky Milk Factory Cup 2015

The 2015 Stavropolsky Milk Factory Cup is taking place from August 15-16, in the Russian city of Stavropol.

The event was a 9-round Swiss rapid tournament with tempo of play 15′ + 10″.
