The Chess Club Brda, City of Split and Croatian Chess Federation are organizing the 5th Split Chess Open 2015on 9-16th August at Hotel Zagreb in Split, Croatia.
The tournament system is 9-round Swiss and the total prize fund is 8500 EUR.
Among the 176 registered players from 20 countries there are 11 Grandmasters and 18 International Masters.
The competition is held by the Russian Chess Federation, the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation and the Zabaykalsky Krai Chess Federation, with support from the government of the Zabaykalsky Krai. The competition partners are Norilsk Nickel and the Baikalsk Mining Company.
The 102nd British Chess Championship was held from 25th July to 8th August, 2015, in the University of Warwick, Coventry CV4 7AL,The event was an 11-round Swiss FIDE tournament with tempo of play 90′/40 + 30′ + 30″.
The 2015 European Amateur Chess Championship is starting today and continues until 16th August at the Palace of Army Officers, Mickeviciaus str. 19, in Kaunas, Lithuania.
The Championship is open to all players representing Chess Federations in FIDE zones 1.1 to 1.10, who have no FIDE title and no FIDE rating above 2000 at the start of the tournament (9 August 2015), nor have had such a rating for at least two years prior to the start of the event (that is 9 August 2013 and on).
