There are just 5 days to go until ChessFest 2025, our annual chess extravaganza in Trafalgar Square, London. On Sunday 13th July 2025, 11am-7pm, we’re taking over the whole square for a day of free, family-friendly chess activities, including:

Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters Chess 2025 LIVE

Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2025 is taking place August 6-15 in Chennai, India. The tournament was previously known as Chennai Chess Masters and featured 10 high ELO players in a Round Robin. Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2025 is expected to be stronger than last year’s edition, now that Quantbox has joined as sponsor.

European Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2025

The 24th European Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2025 is set to bring together Europe’s brightest young chess talents in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The European Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship will take place August 4 – August 8 in Porto Palace Hotel, Thessaloniki. Over 400 talented young players from across Europe will compete in this prestigious championship in the U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 Open and Girls.

Slovakia Women Championship LIVE

Slovakia Women Chess Championship is taking place July 8 – July 16 in Balnea Palace Piešťany, Slovakia, parallel to the Slovakia men championship. It is a ten player round robin with WGM Zuzana Borosova (2234), WIM Svetlana Sucikova (2160), WFM Viktoria Nadzamova (2105), WFM Lucia Sevcikova (2100), WFM Ema Walter (2073), WFM Niki Vrbova (2072), WFM Lucia Striskova (2041), WFM Simona Bochnickova (2039), Jana Sosovickova (2016), Diana Vasylchuk (1977)

Slovakia Chess Championship LIVE

Slovakia Chess Championship is taking place July 8 – July 16 in Balnea Palace Piešťany, Slovakia. It is a ten player round robin with GM Jergus Pechac (2580), GM Viktor Gazik (2564), IM Martin Neugebauer (2511), IM Samir Sahidi (2481), IM Filip Haring (2466), GM Lubomir Ftacnik (2439), IM Juraj Druska (2429), IM Stefan Mazur (2416), GM Martin Mrva (2406), IM Vladimir Bochnicka (2354).

Grand Swiss 2025 participants

The FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament 2025 is taking place September 3 – September 16 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It will be an 11-round Swiss-system tournament and forms part of the qualification cycle for the World Chess Championship 2026. The winner and runner-up of the tournament will earn the right to play in the Candidates Tournament 2026.

Grand Swiss Women 2025 participants

La Plagne Chess Open

Festival International de La Plagne Soleil aka La Plagne 2025 is taking place July 5 – July 11 in France. The championship is organized by Club d’Échecs du Bassin Annemassien and features a prize fund of 20 000 eur.

Norwegian Chess Championship 2025 LIVE

The Norwegian Chess Championship 2025 aka Landsturneringen 2025 is taking place July 4 – July 12 in Bergen, Norway. Carlsen celebrates his victory in Grand Chess Tour Zargeb with a cryptic tweet

Magnus Carlsen is the winner of the SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz Croatia 2025, part of the Grand Chess Tour. Carlsen won the Zagreb part of the Grand Chess Tour with a round to spare, collecting 22,5 points in nine rounds of rapid and eighteen rounds of blitz.
