CCT 2024 in Oslo – participants

The final of the Champions Chess Tour 2024 is in Oslo. The event will take place December 17-21, right before the World Rapid and Blitz Chess 2024.

The top 8 players from this year’s CCT will face off with in live games with audience, after 4 qualification events.

Asturias Individual Chess Championship

The Asturias Individual Chess ChampionshipCampeonato Individual de Asturias de Ajedrez – takes place in Marieva Palace Gijón. Playing dates are September 28 , October 5, 12, 19 and November 9, 16, 23, 30.

Alexander Donchenko and Margarita Novikova are German Blitz Chess Champions

Alexander Donchenko won the 2024 edition of the German Blitz Chess Championship. With 25.5/29 and a win over GM Roven Vogel (24.5/29) in the last round, he secured the title! IM Ilja Schneider came third with 21.5/29 points.

Margarita Novikova is German Women Blitz Chess Champion 2024. With 17.5/21 she is 1.5 points ahead of Steffi Arnhold and Kateryna Dolzhykova.

Japan Team Chess Championship 2024

The Japan Team Chess Championship 2024 is taking place 28-29 September in Tokyo. The Japan Championship is a 6-round team event with time control 30 min + 30 sec. There are a total of 247 players in the event, with the top rated player being the Olympic players of Japan – FM Mirai Aoshima, IM Shinya Kojima, IM Ryosuke Nanjo, CM Thanh Tu Tran (who won a GM norm at the Olympiad).

Romanian Team Chess Championships 2024 LIVE

The Romanian Team Chess Championships 2024 aka Campionatul National pe Echipe Masculine Superliga is a 9-teams round-robin event. The tournament is organized by FR Sah & CS Tinerii Maestri Bucuresti and takes place in 28th of September to the 6th of October in Constanţa, Romania. Slovenian Team Chess Championship LIVE

The Slovenian Team Chess Championship takes place from 27th of September to 13th of October in Grosuplje, Slovenia. The Slovenian Team Chess Championship is a 10-team round-robin with classical time control 90 min for 40 moves + 30 min + 30 sec/move.

German Blitz Chess Championship 2024

The German Blitz Chess Championship 2024 takes place this September 28 in Weissenhorn, Germany. A total of 30 players participate in the open section with GM Alexander Donchenko, GM Roven Fogel, Martin Heider, FM Vadim Lavrinenkov, and IM Leandro Costa as top seeded.

Rose Atwell at the 2024 US Chess Championship – a dream come true

Rose Atwell is the wild card 2024 US Women Chess Championship which starts October 11 in Saint Louis. Rose Atwell is only 15 years old but is considered one of the top talents in US chess. She started playing chess only seven years ago and already has a dream come true – to be part of the US Chess Championships.
