FIDE Women Candidates – round 1 report

All four games played in the first round of the Women’s Grand Prix in New Delhi ended with a draw. IM Vaishali R won on default after Elisabeth Paehtz decided to withdraw from the tournament.

Bharat Singh Chauhan, Chairman of FIDE’s Advisory Board and Secretary of the All India Chess Federation, made the ceremonial first move in the game between Koneru Humpy and Harika Dronavalli in the inaugural round of the New Delhi Women’s Grand Prix.

II Open Internacional Chess Menorca 2023

The II Open Internacional Chess Menorca will take place from 11-16 April 2023 in Ciutadella (Menorca), Spain. The time control is 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. The total prize fund of 2023’s edition of the tournament is 16 000 EUR with 3000 EUR plus trophy for the winner. More than 190 players are registered for now, among them GM Jules Moussard, GM Jorden Van Forrest, GM Maksim Chigaev, GM Max Varmerdam, GM Vitaliy Bernadskiy, GM Thai Dai Van Nguyen, GM Rinat Jumabayev, GM Harsha Bharathakoti, GM Aryan Chopra, GM Alexandr Fier, etc.
