Inspiring battles at Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities

Following two days of competition, there are now six teams with a perfect score. However, for many, the socialising aspect and the atmosphere seem to be the most significant factor.

The second day of the Olympiad started with the first move ceremony, carried out by Darija Kisic Tepavcevic, a doctor and epidemiologist who is currently serving as the Serbian minister of family welfare and demography.

Graz Chess Open 2023

The 2023 International Chess Open Graz will take place from 18 to 24 February in Graz, Austria. The event features three tournaments: A (for players rated 2000+), B (for players rated U2000) and C (for players rated U1700). Each tournament will be played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with the time control 90 min + 30 sec increment. The total prize fund of the event is 8.500 EUR.

Women’s Grand Prix Munich 2023 – Day 1 live

The second leg of the 2022-2023 Women’s Grand Prix Series is taking place from 1st-14th February in Munich, the capital of the state of Bavaria. Twelve of the world’s top female players will dispute an eleven-round all-play-all with their eyes set on the 15,000 euros first prize plus the valuable WGP points that add up for direct qualification to the 2023-2024 FIDE Women’s Candidates. 

European Cities & Towns Chess Champions 2023 announced

The 1st European Cities & Towns Chess Championship was played on Sunday, January 29th with participation of 50 teams from 30 European cities.

European Individual Chess Championship 2023 breaking the participation record

The European Individual Chess Championship 2023 is going to take place from 2nd to 14th March in Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia. More than 430 players have already registered for the event and the event is breaking the participation record previously set in Rijeka 2010 with 408 participants. The registration deadline is February 2nd, 2023.

The 1st Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities opened in Belgrade

In the historic building of the National Assembly of Serbia, players from all continents, FIDE officials, members of the Serbian government, chess celebrities and guests gathered to inaugurate the first-ever Chess Olympiad for people with disabilities.

Anish Giri is the Winner of the Tata Steel Masters 2023

Anish Giri, five times the runner-up in Wijk aan Zee, has won the 85th edition of Tata Steel Chess after pouncing on a blunder by Richard Rapport while Jorden van Foreest took down long-term leader Nodirbek Abdusattorov.
