The 16th edition of Delhi International Open Chess Tournament got off to a perfect start for the star players as they were off to a winning start in the opening round except for a couple of upsets among Grandmasters.

Top seed GM Arkadij Naiditsch, rated 2701, had a very easy outing after his opponent Varshini V., rated 2062, failed to create any chances and lost. Naiditsch said, “I am wary of the Indian youngsters as they are known to be dangerous and underrated. Today, it was an easy day.”

European ACP Women Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2018 will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia, from 29th March- 2nd April.

The MTS Logistics GM Tournament is a 10-player 5 Double Round Robin System taking place from 5-14 January 2018 in Izmir, Turkey. Five Turkish players, Team
White, compete against a team of five foreign players , Team Blue. The venue will be Vesta Fuar hotel.

Season 11 of the premier computer chess championship TCEC is going to start this January 3rd at 19:00 CET (13:00 EST, 18:00 GMT). This season is going to change to a league format with five divisions, involving the best 30 chess engines in the world.
