The 26th annual Kings Island Open was held from 10-12th November at the Embassy Suites Cincinnati Northeast in Blue Ash, Ohio, USA.

The event had 7 sections: Open, Under 2100, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500, Under 1250 and Under 1000. All sections were played over five rounds of Swiss system, with the time control 40/110, SD/30, d10.

The FIDE rated Open section had 61 participants. Six players shared the first place on 4,0/5 points to earn 840 USD each.

The fifth edition of the London Chess Conference will be held on 2-3rd December at the London Hilton Kensington Olympia.

It coincides with the London Chess Classic tournament when the world’s top players descend on London to battle for supremacy.

The theme of the conference this year is Scholastic Chess i.e. using chess for educational purposes.

2017 UTD Fall FIDE Open will take place November 17 – 22 at the The Embassy Suites Dallas – Park Central.

Russian Grandmaster Valeri Yandemirov (11.02.1963-16.11.2017) has passed away at the age of 55.

International Grandmaster was one of the leading coaches of Tatarstan, with many strong players and young chess stars owing their success in sports to him.

Valeri Petrovich was permanently friendly and responsive person with a colossal internal culture and wide range of interests.

The 16th Annual Turkey Bowl was organized by Boca Chess from 10-12th November at the Sawgrass Grand Hotel in Sunrise, Ft.Lauderdale, USA.

The tournament format was 5-round Swiss in five sections: Open, U2100, U1700, U1450 and U1100.

203 players participated in all sections and the total prize fund was 9000 USD. GMs Yuniesky Quesada Perez and Julio Becerra and IM Yunier Leyva Rivera shared the first place in the Open section.

The recent game between the Chinese prospect Bai Jinshi and World championship candidate Ding Liren, played at Yingmei Cup 2017, caused great excitement among the chess fans.

The fourth and final leg of the FIDE Grand Prix series will take place from 15-26th November at the Iberostar Bahía de Palma in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The tournament format is 18-player 9-round Swiss system.

The event will determine the last two qualifiers for the 2018 FIDE Candidates Tournament in Berlin.

FIDE is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with the Organisers that the dress code for the 2017 King Salman World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships will be dark blue or black formal suits, with white shirts, either open necked or with a tie, for men and dark blue or black formal trouser suits, with high necked white blouses for women.

The European Individual Chess Championship for 2018 will take place in Batumi, Georgia, from 16th-29th March, in the 5 stars Hotel “Sheraton Batumi”, which will be the official venue of the Championship.

The event is organized by government of Georgia, the government of Adjara Autonomous Republic, Tbilisi City Hall and Georgian Chess Federation, under the auspices of European Chess Union.
