GM Maksim Chigaev first in the Sagaalgan Rapid 2017

The 15th Chess Festival Sagaalgan 2017 was held on 24-26th March at the Buddhist University in Ivolginsky datsan, near Ulan-Ude in the Russian Republic of Buryatia.

The 13-round rapid tournament with the time control 15′+10” was a stage of the Rapid Grand Prix of Russia. An impressive number of 557 players participated in the single section.

US Chess Championships 2017

For the ninth consecutive year, the nation’s top 24 chess players will gather in Saint Louis to compete for the titles of U.S. Champion and U.S. Women’s Champion, which will be held simultaneously at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis (CCSCSL) from March 28 through April 10.

6th Summer International Festival Fano by the Sea

The 6th Summer Chess Festival ‘Mare di Fano’ will take place from 29th July – 5th August, 2017, bringing together amateur and professional players.

2017 Susan Polgar National Open Championship for Girls and Boys

The prestigious annual Susan Polgar National Open Championship for Girls and Boys was created in 2006 and is sponsored by the SPF to give more opportunities to young chess players in the United States. The top player of each championship section in the SPFNO will be awarded:

Najdorf Chess Festival 2017

The Polish Chess Federation and Gen. Kazimierz Sosnkowski Chess Foundation are inviting chess players to take part in the MetLife Warsaw Najdorf Chess Festival, which will be held from 8-17th July 2017, at the Warsaw Sports and Recreation Centre in Warsaw, Poland.

The event is supported by Ministry of Sports and Tourism, Municipality of the Warsaw Central District, Warsaw Sports and Recreation Centre, Marshal’s Office of the Mazovian Voivodeship, ATM corporation and IBM Polska Ltd.

Mongolian Chess Championships 2017

The Mongolian Chess Federation is hosting the 57th Championship for Open and the 49th Championship for Women. The event is being held in the birthplace of the famous Chinggis Khaan (Genghis Khan) in Dadal, Khentii province.

Wisconsin International Chess Festival

The Wisconsin International Chess Festival will take place from 13-19th June at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in Madison, Wisconsin, USA.

The 9-round Swiss tournament will offer a possibility to earn GM and IM norms. A Blitz tournament will be held on Saturday, June 17th at 7pm.

The prizes are: $3,000-$2,000-$1,000-$500-$500; top u2450 $500; top u2250 $500.
Minimum Prizes (must complete all 9 rounds): $500 for foreign GMs (first 5), $100 for all foreign FIDE rated players.

Andrei Filatov, Yury Averbakh and Sergey Karyakin on “Culture” TV channel

President of the Russian Chess Federation Andrei Filatov, the oldest Grandmaster in the world Yury Averbakh and world vice-champion Grandmaster Sergey Karjakin participated in the TV show “Nablyudatel” (Observer) on the “Culture” channel.

Culturologist Boris Lanin and the host of the program Fyokla Tolstaya were also present in the studio.
