London Chess Classic Day 1 round-up

The 7th London Chess Classic, which constitutes the last leg of the inaugural Grand Chess Tour, kicked off at Olympia Conference Centre this afternoon. The tournament got off to a perfect start as it was publicised on primetime TV last night, when Magnus Carlsen was a guest on BBC’s ‘One Show’. San Salvador Chess Open 2015

The 2nd San Salvador Chess Open is scheduled to take place from 5-10th December, 2015, at the Palacio de los Deportes Carlos el Famoso Hernandez in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The 9-round Swiss event is organized by the Federacion Salvadoreña de Ajedrez and offers $8000 in prizes.

A total of 103 players from ten countries are registered to take part in the tournament. Among them are 5 Grandmasters and 6 International Masters.

The Russian Chess Federation has announced the lineup for the Men’s Final of the Cup of Russia, which will be held from 4-13th December in Khanty-Mansiysk.

GM Branko Damljanovic takes the Belgrade Trophy

Captain of the Serbian national women’s team Grandmaster Branko Damljanovic emerged winner of the 2015 Belgrade Trophy after edging the top seed GM Tamir Nabaty on tie-break.

The two players finished on 7,5/9 points each in the field of 182 participants from 13 countries. Among them were 15 Grandmasters and 12 International Masters.
