Pranav Venkatesh (World Junior Champion 2025) and Kazybek Nogerbek (World Junior Champion 2024) will decide the wild card spot at the Grand Swiss Chess 2025 in a direct encounter.

The 2025 Women’s Speed Chess Championship (WSCC) takes place August 4 – August 29. It will be a 16 player event, with 6 invited players and 10 qualified. The participants include Women’s Speed Chess Champions Hou Yifan, Kateryna Lagno, and Ju Wenjun. See the full participants list below

Igor Kovalenko and Ihor Samunenkov will play an experience vs youth match at The Marble Palace in Morshyn. Currently Igor Kovalenko is the highest rated Ukrainian player (Number 46 in the world), while Ihor Samunenkov is the highest rater Ukrainian junior player (Number 27 junior in the world).

Elmira Mirzoeva is the winner of the 2025 ECF English Women Championship. Elmira Mirzoeva was sole leader after round 4, but Shambavi Hariharan managed to catch up with her. Both finished at 5,5/7 and the match headed to a tiebreak. There Elmira Mirzoeva won game 1 with black and drew the second game to claim the title of English Women Champion 2025.

Michael Adams is the winner of the 2025 ECF English Championship. After taking the early lead, Adams finished top of the table with 6,0/7, the same points as Nikita Vitiugov. The two played a tiebreak, where Adams prevailed 2,5 – 1,5.
