Biel Masters 2025 heads to the finals

The Biel Chess International Festival 2025 is taking place July 12 – July 25 in Switzerland. Biel Masters 2025 is one of the Top Events in The Chess Calendar For the next two weeks, the chess world will once again be looking to Biel: for the 58 th time in a row, the Biel International Chess Festival is welcoming players from all over the world. After the Chess960 and the rapid, now it is time for the classical event.

10 new Grandmaster titles approved

The second FIDE Council Meeting of 2025 took place on July 18 in Batumi, Georgia, alongside the ongoing FIDE Women’s World Cup. Held in a hybrid format, the meeting addressed a range of important topics, including development projects, budget matters, the FIDE calendar, fair-play measures, and the approval of new player titles.

World Chess Cup 2025 participants

The FIDE World Chess Cup 2025 is going to take place October 20 – November 27 in India. It will feature 208 players in 8 knockout rounds of classical games. The FIDE World Cup 2025 will award three spots to the Candidates 2026.

This is the participants list of the World Chess Cup 2025. Players still have to confirm their participation, with FIDE replacement procedures to be followed.

Peter Svidler vs Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus match

Peter Svidler and Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus will play a match this July. The match is titled Clash of Generations and will take place from July 23 to 28 at the Intercontinental in Marseille. The match consists of six classical games, followed by a blitz part.

The match is going to be live on Chessdom.com. A parallel simul with Shakhriyar Mamedyarov is planned as part of the opening ceremony.
