Zambia’s chess talisman Stanley Chumfwa says that the African Individual Chess Championships which began on Saturday in Windhoek, Namibia, is the easiest continental chess championship yet for Zambian players to win looking at the level the country has reached now.

African Chess Confederation President Lewis Ncube said on Friday that the 2014 African Chess Championships were likely to prove very competitive due to the good prize package and other incentives.

He was present during the official opening ceremony of the continental showpiece event.

Zadar Open 2014 is taking place on 14-20th December 2014 at the Falkensteiner Hotels & Resorts Borik, in Zadar, a city in Croatia, situated on the Adriatic Sea.

The event is a 9-round Swiss FIDE tournament open to all players rated over 2200.

European Senior Chess Championship 2015

The 15th European Senior Chess Championship for Men and Women will be held in Eretria, Greece, from 28th April to 8th May, 2015.

The tournament venue is the conference center of the 4-star “Eretria Village” Hotel, near the ancient city of Eretria.

The Championship is open to all players representing ECU Chess Federations who have been born in the year 1965 or earlier. There is also no limit in the number of participants per federation.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Yaoundé, Cameroon – Results

From 25 to 28 November 2014 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Yaoundé, Cameroon, by the Cameroon Chess federation, in cooperation with the African Chess Union and under the auspices of FIDE.

The venue of the Seminar was the Hotel Azur, in Yaoundé.

The lecturer was IA Stephen Boyd (FRA), FIDE Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer was FA Pierre Makem (CMR).

The lectures were in French language.
