The second edition of the International Open Chess Tournament “Durres 2014″ is taking place on 1-8th November 2014 in in the Conference Hall of the 4-Star Hotel “Bleart”**** in Durres, one of the most ancient and significant cities of Albania, situated on the Adriatic Coast.

The event is organized by the Albanian Chess Federation in a 9-round Swiss format, valid for FIDE rating and norms.

The first two stages of the FIDE Grand Prix Series 2014-2015 were held in Baku, Azerbaijan and Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Two more events will follow in Tbilisi, Georgia (February) and Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia (May).

Indian Grandmaster Harikrishna Pentala continues with chess promotional activities. After the 30-board simultaneous exhibition in Belgrade, he is currently playing a six-board clock simul against the members of G-Team Novy Bor.
